Hopefully all sorted! Barring any last minute shenanigans around the time card issues then Marty McCormack and Barney Mitchell are the winners of the 2017 Roger Albert Clark rally!

Matthew Robinson is 2nd and Roger Chilman is 3rd. Steve Bannister climbed back to 6th after last day woes.

A proper endurance rally. Not without some issues it would appear most of which affect all UK rallying at the moment however great to have it back and hopefully all the organisers hard work will be rewarded with an even better event in two years time!

Have to say I'm really impressed with you guys. The dedication to attend this event is great to see.

Just reading the names of some of the stages brings back great memories of the Lombard RAC back in the 1980/90's.

Also some of the cars being used are still something special. Pity the Escorts are so dominant in the top of the order. Must have to wait ages for the cool machines to come through...

Call it nostalgia/rose tinted specs whatever you want but part of the appeal of this rally is that much touted word "endurance" which has been banded around a lot in the WRC world but which for rally fans of a certain age really is what its all about. OK so the speed of the current WRC cars and drivers is mighty and I'm a fan of the modern world as well, however I think what the Albert reminds me of is the anticipation and excitement that each November used to bring back in the RAC days. To follow that rally in its heyday took a lot of planning both in where to try and catch a stage and also from a resources point of view. The chance of maybe helping a crew in distress to keep in the event often presented itself on the road sections meaning you often felt "involved" something which in todays Health & Safety culture is becoming verboten. The Albert is just that little nod to the past whilst fitting in with the modern world and for one I hope it continues to run for many years to come.

Oh and one more thing the current buzz phrase "leave no trace", back in the 80s and 90s our crew would never have thought of leaving a shed load of crap behind on the stages or in the car parks. In fact we used to have a competition each year to see who could end up with dirtiest hire car! Glad to say at Sherpherdshield at least there was very little if any noticeable rubbish left behind. Maybe again it's an age thing !

It's like the way every event has to have catering nowadays.. leading to the inevitable rubbish from fast food and drinks.

I could only get to the RallyFest at WRGB, but took everything with me and didnt need any of the crap they sell.

Never had any of that back in the day... even at the MM Sunday stages.

Thanks for sharing the images Richard. More than anything to me they suggest how lucky we were with the weather!

Another great set of images. Bob Bean in the Cortina should be an inspiration to all.I believe he will be 80 shortly yet is able to complete 4 tough days of this rally. A proper hero!

Ah that's what was bothering me (no ice, snow, dull, driving rain, fog, thick mud)... it doesn't look like the old RAC's I remember !
