You make a good point, he looked quite on the limit. You could spot the guys that were ragged as they threw up a lot more dust as they were off line in the dirty bits of road.

Yup, you can see them on the start list - https://rallyaustralia.com.au/wp-con...ember-2017.pdf
Seems if you are an R5 car you start in front of ASN cars, and fortunately in front of the Japanese gentleman drivers!

I hope Brendan Reeves gets a bigger gap between him and the R2 car in front of him, 5mins isn't enough on a long stage that's for sure!

Just getting up to go to first stage now, it's been raining in the night, but not currently, it's warm(ish) and calm here, some dark clouds on the horizon though.

Road still dry and dusty or a bit damp?

You can talk about the fastest RC2 or R5 car though
The fastest 3 shakedown times were set after the RC2 cars then... pedantry for the win!

    Fri 08:07 - Weather
After plenty of summer sunshine in the last few days, it's a grey and cloudy start in Coffs Harbour today. The temperature is 19˚C and should hit 23˚C this afternoon. Some spots of rain reported on Stage 2, and there is a threat of more widespread showers later.

I would say that dust might be an issue right now, for the first stage, there is no wind and it is dry with 2-3 raindrops from time to time. Sweeping is also big factor, especially for SS1

Finally our friends from Oceania continent will enjoy a rally in a proper timing. Cheers guys!

I'll also give you my prediction: Latvala will bring this home.
