Indeed. Maybe he is a very big talent, but it is too early to tell. Ofcourse he is ahead of opponents of the same age, he was in a rally car when others couldn't even say the word car...

that's the downside of having it handed to you on a silver plate. most young drivers have to prove them self in lower categories, working their way up and getting experience in silence. they only start driving an r5 car once they've proven to be the fastest in an r2.

but if you want to start with an r5 car and fight the big boys, you must also accept that the stakes are high and that it can be quite humiliating.

I've no doubt that Rovanperä has natural talent, but I'd hold my breath for the son of a world champion longer than for Peugeot's gravel specialist's.

OH so Starlets grow in the forests..I know they were made in Japan, and that you crazy people did the most insane things in the world with them, but how did Finnish scientists get them to grow? Seeds? Spores???
Was it planned like real agriculture or do Starlets grow where rallydrivers crash and leave parts..you know like shoots or rhizomes?

Always been fascinated by naturally occurring things like "talent" springing up after only 8-9 years of practice..

Här är en ”starlet” i finsk vinter skog utan Koskenkorva. Sverige har Emil i Lönneberga och rally, vi har Kalle med skämt och rally.

Well, Rovanperä, had few seasons in Latvia behind R2 wheel, and beat Sirmacis and Sesks with not so good car (Citroen C2 R2 vs. P208 R2/Fiesta R2). OK, Latvia's championship ins't as strong as ERC/WRC R2 field but still, his progress was very quick. When he start driving in Latvia he was in middle of field, like he is now in Wales. 4WD was natural step up. Kid has talent, and proved that he can improve quite quick. Yes, he could step down to R2/R3 for WRC events, like some others, but it's a big question if it help him or not.
