The new spec engine in Freds car lasted 210 kilometers before it went pop!

https://streamable.com/efq28 - nice puff of smoke.

Eric said it wasn't an engine but a transmission failure.

And they've switched back to the old spec engine for today. Deliberate strategy it seems, to run the new engine in practice and incur the penalties, but then to save using it in anger for another race when they don't have grid penalties.

I think he meant he will stay calm about the decision to go or stay. I think he did overreact. Knowing they weren't going to use a "spec 3" engine in the race that they would use a very well worn transmission before they changed the lump.

It looked , smoke-wise , a lot more like one bank giving up than any transmission failure to me .

    And , I didn't say he over-reacted .
Tossing the tub surround was being very controlled from where I sit .
This must be driving him absolutely nuts .

    What was it, 18mph?

This is an engine which can't hold it's own in a fight.
The Old Republic was a stupidly run organisation which deserved to be taken over. All Hail Palpatine!

The wretchedness of the situation was clearly not lost on Eric Boullier, who looked pretty depressed about his team's best result of the season.
