So many technical problems yesterday, unbelievable! Good job by the organizers this year, at least for us specators, guess competitors will complain a lot though. Dakar is meant to be the ultimate challenge, hardest of all and only a few would complete it!

Yes, plenty of problems, even for the experienced teams. Black day for the de Rooy Team. Federico Villagra out after gearbox problems in his Iveco, in his home country!

..at his home city of Cordoba, very sad indeed as it was a technical fault, his truck couldn't move with more than 40kmh. Nikolaev also had drivetrain problems - lost the clutch at the end of the first part and had to change gears with proper throttle pedal work. Genugten got sun-blinded and missed a turn. Macik somehow survived and keeps going in 6th, wonderful result.

Cars haven't finished yet but that massacre at 40th jubilee Dakar allowed Qassimi, Prokop and Merkstejn in 6th-8th place

Also a great result for Polish driver Jakub Przygonski, who finished 5th overall. That's his best result ever and he was the best Mini driver in Dakar 2018. In front of him - only such Dakar legends like Sainz, al-Attiyah, de Villiers and Peterhansel. Congratulations!!!

Deep respect for Carlos Sainz. To be still so motivated despite his age, congratulations. He is a real legend and best example to other rally drivers.
I hope he will continue his racing career, no matter in behind which steering wheel.

Good news about the medical state of Ondřej Klymciw. He is recovering after successful surgery of double spinal fracture and he is sending regards to Dakar fans.
