Jeeez, before you ever complain about the quality of entry lists in ERC, have look at the entries in Shiraz International Rally 2017, the 5th round of Middle East Rally Championship...

Magalhaes only has five scores so is going to have to count one of his 2 pointers, however his strong early season means he could still be in with a shout if he has a good final two events.

Lukyanuk has only three scores so all his points will count and he will need a very strong final two events to be in contention.

Griebel only has four scores so both final events could count for him too but he would need two great results with other guys not scoring well.

Bouffier and Al-Attiyah have theoretical but almost impossible chances too.

Way I see it is it should be Kajto's with two reliable runs but Magalhaes could do it if he can make a significant improvement on his last two events or even Lukyanuk if he manages to keep it on the road at the same time as delivering his undoubted speed.
So with one event to go the championship is still not over. But thanks to Kajto's second place in Rome two drivers can be crossed out of the equation. Both Bouffier and Lukyanuk lost their chances for the title. It's all between Kajetanowicz and Magalhaes now. Latvia will decide.

Why did Lukyanuk not restart in Rome? Was there other damage to his car?
