ERC standings have just been updated on the official website, so all the champions can now look at them and enjoy their success while drinking champagne

Interesting to compare U27 and ERC3 where there are basically same top contenders but U27 counts less events. In U27 it's Ingram-Huttunen-Mareš, in ERC3 it's Ingram-Mareš-Huttunen.

So a little season review from me:
I think ERC made real progress this year with quite full campaigns for a number of good drivers and the successful U28 and U27 championship concepts.
But overall the championship battle turned out a little disappointing, partly because of Lukyanuk's testing accident and partly his own mistakes on the stages.. However it is clear he has the pace to be at the front absolutely everywhere now. I hope he comes back next year and finally can reduce the errors and lift the title.
Bouffier could have had a chance too had he run more events and/or had he not been so slow on Canarias. Again I hope he returns and that Gemini will buy him a gravel kit.
It was great to see Magalhaes win his home event and ultimately complete a full campaign but unfortunately he was just too slow on the events he hadn't done for a while (or ever)
So taking all that into account, Kajto definitely deserved the title again. But if he comes back next year I hope the other guys give him a tougher workout!

It’s true that Bruno struggled in Poland, Czech and Latvia, but he wasn’t that slow on the others. Without the stupid mistake in Cyprus, it would be possible to put more pressure into Kajto and risk a bit more in Italy. Anyway, he did ok considering Kajto superior budget and experience. On Lukyanuk you’re totally right: he’s the fastest man around and deserves to get the title.

About Lukyanuk - well he IS fast, he IS spectacular to watch, he has personality, thing that lacks nowadays among rally drivers, but crashes way too much. You can deserve chance or opportunity, but title deserves who has most points in end of season, that's how it works.
I still secretly hoped that Bruno win title in Latvia. Kajto great, but he has experience, financial backing, semi-works team behind him, and Bruno is like local hero goes international (once again). It's kinda inspiring not only thinking about rally, but about life from some point of view, like David and Goliath...Maybe next year Bruno and Hugo will win, maybe next year...

Tänak got 20 points closer to Evans, but as the main reason was a bad rally for Evans, I would say that Evans lost 20 points to Tänak, not Tänak gained. The point is, if the other one does not...
