In Canada, we have an expression for these conditions : Winter roads with summer ditches!

Why... Because I like it when drivers are more aggressive and rely on the snow banks to keep the car on the road. It makes it different to other rallies, thus the different driving techniques.

It is reply to all those people who say: "You are good, Liposh, but just wait for Bluuford, he is the only one who can give us proper forecast". (and that happens quite often, you can find it here few pages back) I am not competing with Bluuford, he is the right guy and I adore him, but sometimes he may be out of civilization for a while. So here I am.
Visit South Moravia. It is the real paradise

Not sure if it so much better getting sucked into a snowbank and stuck ther. Some years back early 2000s i believe it was in the days of colin, burns, Tommi etc, it was a year with no snow banks and the drivers said they really liked it, because of the possibillity too cut and take shorter lines. Fun too watch as well

True enough, hitting snowbanks can cause problems if you dont do it right. But for the experts they allow pushing to the limit with the snowbank to nudge back into line.

Paddon: Some spectacular conditions out on the stages.. I would describe the new Knon stage 'balls out fast' - and is a favourite. #heavyrightfoot https://t.co/awDt07f7vF

Great to see that drivers are praising the conditons and many of them saying it will be a very fast rally.

@JariMattiWRC likes the new #knonstage, too. "It's fast, but beautiful"

@thierryneuville likes the new #knonstage. "It's fast. Nearly too fast"

From what I have read, Sweden is the fastest average speed rally in the calendar, mostly because of the snowbanks.

Dunno where you read that but it's wrong. Sweden is one of the fastest when conditions are ideal because snow tires with studs give excellent grip on frozen ground. Leaning on snowbanks is not faster than clean runs, also it can be dangerous because snowbanks can pull you in. The advantage is sometimes drivers can risk more and get away with it.

The explanation was, the snowbanks make drivers feel more safe, hence pushing the car to the limit.
