Good news is that RS 2017 brings new stages.

Bad news, nowhere to stay overnight for spectators.

What distance is to far away?
From Torsby its shorter to Elverum and kongsvinger in Norway, than to Karlstad.
Lots of accomodation possibilities in the whole area called finnskogen.

Men frågan är om det är i Norge, och folk ska vara där att titta på Svenska rattyt, varför heter det Finn skogen?
Vilken språk borde man vara bered att snacka?
    Vad ska man dricka?
    Vilken flagg ska man vifta?

    Hehe, finlandssvorsk kanskje
Republikken finnskogen har eget flagg! Hembrendt er "nasjonaldrikke"!

In english: language is really not easy to explain, but in finland some in western part talk "finnswedish", and when swedes tries to speak Norwegian it called "svorsk" , like "swinglish" when swedes tries to speak english.

Finnskogen has its own "republic", once a year, the Center is svullrya, a wellknown place for rallyfans. It also has its own flag those days
Moneshine is what to drink, food is something called "motti og flæsk", some kind of boiled dry rye porrige with lots of bacon, good with a beer!

To get good winter conditions for a rally you need:
    - Wet weather with rain.
    - 1-2 weeks of -5 to -10 C barefrost (no snow) to get a good ice base.
    - 1-2 weeks of Snow, preferably 1 meter + to get ok snow banks.
    - 1-2 weeks of cold weather and usage of roads to compress snow.
    - Rally 9-12 feb, sub zero temp.

So you need 3-6 weeks of teamplay with mother nature to get optimum conditions for a winter rally.
So if we use this recepie, we need to get "started" best case soon, and worst case mid january!

Keep calm and let mother nature do its job. No need to get nervous already 2 months before the rally.
Last year even the last minute watering of the stages did miracles in very short time.

Not much, I guess it was 3-4cm in total. What surprised me was that there seemed to be an ice base on the Svullrya-stage. Even though when we drove it looked like we went straight down to the gravel. We stopped on a spot to check if it would be useful to film there, we couldn't get going again, we just spun on the solid ice. It's far from enough to last a rally, but I didn't expect to see anything.

That won't happen here in Norway as we know already. The best case now would be to get some snow, and keep it below 0, and help out with some watering.

It is now 100% certain and thus confirmed that Torsby airport will be the new service area and rally base for 2017.
    http://www.vf.se/sport/bilsport/helt...allyt-i-torsby

However, RallyHQ, opening ceremony and superspecial will still be in Karlstad.

IMO I wish that they had dumped the super special on the horse race track in Karlstad.

Got an incredible cheap and good house by Grässjön lake 17km south of Torsby through Airbnb.
Anyone got any clue of how far north they will go?
