Who wants to travel a few hours to be potentially stuck in the same place for the whole day? And there is also the issue of the signal not being great, and possibly not knowing the rally standings. Other sports/ activities are far more 'fan friendly' - and there isn't a lot organisers can do, is there?

There were a reasonable number of people out on the Borders, but the Pirelli looked dead... It doesn't help that Kielder isn't particularly close to anywhere and the accessibility looks poor. I was out on the Borders, the BRC and SRC itineraries made it worth doing the trip and I enjoyed it. Plus it was in a beautiful area that I'd never really explored before, thus I made a long weekend away out of it. I was tempted to do the Pirelli, but it wasn't worth travelling 4 hours to attend what seems like a fairly uninspiring 'event'. With seemingly poor accessibility, small entry list and the prospect of the usual anti-spectator measures you get on the rallies nowadays, I just couldn't be bothered in the end. Instead I went to British GT at Rockingham.

I really don't think it helps the BRC to have three gravel rallies in that same part of the country. As much as I like the idea of a BRC round in Kielder, the BRC might be better served by having a Scottish Rally based out of Stirling, a Borders Rally like now, but with additional Ae, Twiglees and Castle d'Oer, or maybe Kielder stages, running on a second full day, and a return of Rally Yorkshire, giving a better geographical spread plus a rally in the latter that normally attracts decent spectator numbers.

Cave off to a flyer in Scotland, ahead of Ählin and Cronin. Hope his car stays good this time and we see more of his speed.

I hear that Cave had gearbox issues in testing and probably doesn't have a spare.

As a fan of both sports, it's really a 'no brainer' regard to the sponsorship. Tour de Yorkshire has live TV on ITV4 and Eurosport, plus all the added media, and massive roadside spectators......Sadly, for the sport of rallying, especially in the UK, there is no way it can compete.

Is there a better sound than that of Porsche engined Flat-6 ???
