A lot more his fault than Gutiérrez's, obviously, but perhaps more bad luck than anything else. I don't think Gutiérrez was expecting to be overtaken there, so he returned to the racing line quite quickly, and Alonso was probably not expecting him to be braking so early.
Still that was an extremely nasty crash. I'm surprised that Alo could just walk away from it.
