I say it like it is, if you are too emotionally invested in Mclaren, you would must likely not like the truth of the matter. But that does not change the way it is.
That said, l hope this great team finds its way back to the front where it belongs.
I'm not too emotionally invested in anything, let alone F1/McLaren. I don't know why you took exception to my post as it was not referring to any comment you made. When I say that McLaren will be "vastly improved" it is in the context of what they did last year. Of course I'm speculating a little, but they just don't have that far to go to exceed what 2015 produced!

Fred to win the title four races from the end and retire immediately. Leaving an empty seat for the last 3 races

f1today.net is reporting the speeds over the finish line today:
    http://www.f1today.net/en/live/f1/20...a-test-2-day-3
Comparing them against the equivalent from Spanish Grand Prix last year:
    http://www.fia.com/file/27516/download?token=v_YitG8h (qualy)
http://www.fia.com/file/27544/download?token=WF5acrm- (race, ignore Alonso as he retired early)
it looks as if they haven't really gone anywhere relative to the rest of the field in straight line performance.

Of course that may not tell the full story. If they were using all their electrical power on the straight last year then maybe we wouldn't expect to see a difference at that point. If they are managing to harvest more electrical power now, then the improvement might be in other parts of the lap.

Straight line performance is one thing, actual running time is another indicator:

    2015 9. McLaren 380 laps 1751km over 12 days

McLaren has exceeded that number in less than 7 days. I expect slow continual improvement from the team, and by the Spanish GP we can revisit this topic and see where they stand.

Taz , my man , pretty low expectations all around for the Macs , and nothing spectacular from the tests maybe says they aren't showing any cards for a reason , and they're happy to let people think that reason is that they haven't got a suitable hand .

I have to say, the Mclaren in race trim looks great actually. My first post suggested that it was the ugliest Mclaren ever built. On seeing it in race trim in Australia, l have to admit that l was very wrong.

The metallic grey and the classic Mclaren red wave looks very cool.
