No way, Finnskogen has been my favourite stage for the last two years and now it's gone? That sucks. Which rallies has Svullrya been in before? Hope it's as convenient to get to from Torsby.

Svullrya is more of the same caracter so nice with something new, as i mentioned it's ran in Rally Finnskogen in many varations usually named Sandsjøbekken/Ormeberget. This jump at the bottom before it goes onto the narrow road north again is the wide road and the inboard is around the same place as the finish just in the other direction, hard to tell exactly where it goes. Very convenient, bottom of it is 30min closer to Torsby than Finnskogen was, if you went to the start or finish area of Finnskogen this year you most likely would have driven some of this this stage, the Østberg jump is hard to miss

...and I'll be working this year again. I swear, the officials have a copy of my work schedule and do their best to try to keep me out of that rally! hahaha

    hello mates,
i have never go to watch a rally before, i wanted to go to a few national rallies(Turkey) before wrc but couldn't have the chance.
now i'm currently in Europe(erasmus student) so i wanted to go a few rallies before my visa ends but looking this thread it is a hard job to get accommodation, go to stages without a car and i guess you would need a ticket for rally sweden?

can you make any suggestions about it? maybe there is a thread about newcomers. thanks in advance.

Transportation is very difficult if you don't have bus full of other rally people bringing you.

The Swedish public transport is hailed as some kind of holy transport grail but that's only true in the major cities.

To get to the stages, usually you have to go by car or some rally program bus via some access road and then usually walk a bit. Rallies with good organisation like Germany and sweden usually give out complete maps and guides to get to the stages. Rallies with more haphazard organisation like MC expects the visitor to kind of find his/her own way.

Your best bet in my opinion is to find a buddy that's also going. I've done MC with my ex (not a recommendation if that person is not a rally enthusiast and it rains constantly for three days... Lots of diplomacy needed), and Germany on my own, but I have my own car. I've actually never done rally sweden despite having wanted to for the last decade or so...

Search around forums and check if there is anyone else going that you can go with, or go with some official rally travel program. That's your best bet I'd say.

Judging that you are a newcomer to spectating rallies, that you don't have a car (or don't plan to rent one) and it's Rally Sweden (winter event), I'd suggested an escorted tour by an operator like Rally Travel or alike. I've understand Rally Travel does a stellar job in organizing these trips, you get to meet drivers and other people behind the scenes and basically you only have to take care that you have a proper clothing on you. It costs money, but it's convenient.

Normally, more experienced spectators go out with the normal flight, rental car, accomodation, rally pass -combo. It takes money too and you've got to do all by yourself. If you don't recce the stages (they are normally rutted, snow and ice covered in Sweden, so it takes winter driving experience too), you don't really know what you'll get with spectating points. Many things can go wrong. But if you are an experienced spectator, then of course handling all this comes naturally and it is the only way.
