    2016 News and Results

Looks like the new 4WD kit will be a universal kit developed by…..?

Does the “same time penalties” mean that there will not be any day points + overall points anymore in ERC?

    FIA Rally Commission

The FIA announced the development of an action plan for Rally Safety at all levels – the action plan will include the creation of a task force of experts, communication to ASNs on the importance of adopting FIA Safety standards, a study into the feasibility of limiting ‘pirate’ events that are not sanctioned by ASNs, and the development and implementation of a communication plan for spectators.

The WMSC approved the introduction of a new 4WD car homologation consisting of a homologated kit to be applicable to a large number of road cars currently available on the market. The new homologation will be eligible in Regional and National Championships, and will sit between R3 and R5 in costs and performance.

In order to harmonise with the WRC, the FIA European Rally Championship will adopt the same time penalties for competitors not completing all stages. In addition, from 2016 priority drivers will have a restricted tyre quantity.

I also read (don´t remember where) that next year Rally 2 rules like in WRC will be valid in ERC, too.

Which is not a good thing in my opinion. I would prefer it the other way.

I think Mirek means that wrc should adopt the ERC rule that anyone that retires cannot be in the final classification. Although they can restart and score day points

Previous plan was to adapt rule from ERC to WRC. But after hard disagreement on WMSC and hard push from WRC and MERC they reversed and made it opposite. From my point of view it is really bad decision...

It looks like day points + overall points will stay like they are now. Only rules regarding rally2 will change...

Any chance of an official or semi-official Skoda Motorsport presence in ERC next year?

I suppose Lappi and Tidemand will do a full WRC2 season, but Kopecky in a works Skoda is too strong for the Czech Championship and his father's team would surely be capable of running an ERC programme if necessary.
