Lost in all the excitement about the new chase championship format is the fact that had NASCAR not instituted a Chase after the 2003 season that Jeff Gordon went on to win full season "Winston Cup" style championships in 2004, 2007 and now in 2014, which would bring his total to 7-tying him with the King and the Intimidator.

Here are the final 2014 Winston Cup standings:

Kyle Larson ended up having a very good rookie season, even without a win and would have finished P9 (which, ironically enough, is exactly where 2014 Sprint Cup Champion Kevin Harvick finished in his rookie season of 2001)

Marcos Ambrose finishes in p21 with 3769 points in his final season in NASCAR. Good luck to him back in Australia, I wish we could still get the V8 Supercars on TV here in America.

Danica and her boyfriend had a spirited battle to the bottom of the standings, with Stenhouse winning the Bedroom 500 3381-3339, good for p27 and p28.
