Rally America 2014
http://rally-america.com/news/entry/...sports-network
Just announced that the entire 2014 Rally America will be broadcast on NBC Sports. It won't be live (looks like most events will be broadcast about 2 weeks after they happen) but still, this is a huge step forward for Rallying in the United States. Even the WRC isn't on TV here. NBC Sports is quickly becoming my favorite American sports network. They already cover Formula 1, IndyCar, Soccer (both Premier League and MLS), Hockey (both NHL and NCAA), the Olympics (including all the Olympic trials), and will start covering NASCAR in 2015. Its a refreshing break from the hegemony of NFL, NBA and MLB coverage that we get in this country (mainly on ESPN and Fox). Finally there's a network that realizes that a sport doesn't have to be invented in America and dominated by Americans to be interesting to an American audience.
Anyway, any thoughts on David Higgins win at Sno*Drift? Looks like he's ready to dominate the championship again, although Ken Block didn't take part in the weekend. Also Travis Pastrana is slated to come back to Rally America with Subaru. I'm not sure whether he and Higgins will be trading off or whether they'll actually get to compete against each other. Either way, should make things interesting.Phil Hill - 1961

Re: Rally America 2014
Other than Higgans and Lestage at Sno*Drift there wasn't much competition at the front, although with 58 starting cars it was busy.
For 100 Acre Wood in two weeks Ken Block has a good chance at challenging Higgans. Travis could, too, but he's got a bad habit of not making it through the first day at that rally. Not sure how many cars have registered, yet.

Rally America will air on NBC Sports. With a slight delay, of course.

Re: Rally America 2014
I generally never have time for pictures or film - my one bit of downtime was spent getting a BMW with a fried wiring harness out of the woods - but here is a film of dust catching fire on Travis Pastrana's brakes after stage six:

Meeke had a big gap to Rossel after stage 3 (20 sec) at stage 4 had a puncture and now the gap to Rossel is just 2 sec Gryazin strangely slow, anybody now why?...
