and WILKS THROUGH TO THE FINAL !!!!
Hopefully they can put a 2 liter engine in the Mini for Wilks soon. He drove some nice lines, and is the best JRM have had in the car to date.

But 480 hp from the 1600 engine is 100+ less than the 2 liters produce.

It can't be helped, he's already hooning his RX skill before he joins WRC..

For Wilks to get to the final in a 1600 is very impressive, even more so when you see how much understeer the thing had. I was amazed at just how much difficulty he had turning into the corners, it always wanted to push on. Can't hate Solberg for dominating, he's just a cut above the other guys at the minute. Some great drives though and it was a really great weekend apart from the weather.

There were a few downsides though, some to do with the RX circus and some that may be down to Lydden. The main one was a lack of anyone organising the car parking, either on the way in or on the way out, so that it was a real bun fight and stacked up for far longer than it needed to be. A complete lack of any area to look at results too, even the website was hard to find anything other than live timings (which meant it only showed the most recent race). As we were camping we had quite a bit of time to kill on Saturday evening and it would have been good to have a noticeboard so that we actually knew what happened (there may actually have been a board, but we walked the paddock a good 5 or 6 times over the weekend and never saw anything, it certainly wasn't clear). There was also a small bar set up and some singers on the Saturday night, it wasn't exactly an extravaganza but again it didn't seem to have been mentioned during the day or plugged at all, so you only really came across it because you were trying to see what the noise was. Although to be honest it didn't seem like the commentators had that much information either, at times they didn't even know what race was coming up next. I appreciate that things may have been shuffled to suit TV, but it would've been good to let people know.

Can't wait for next year though, as far as good value entertainment from motorsport goes it's right at the top of the list. Currently going through my pictures and deleting all the crappy ones, hopefully I'll have at least one or two to share when I'm done!
You're so beige, you probably think this signature is about someone else.

Lydden is a tiny venue and that was one of the biggest crowds they have had there for some time. There did at least to be some order to the way they were letting people leave. I was parked on the paddock side and there was a 90 minute wait before the queue even started moving: I just grabbed another cup of tea and walked round the paddock!

Don't forget that the 1600 MINI is 90 KG lighter than everyone else; still a mighty fine drive from Wilks, he was sideways everywhere which was great to watch!

Just uploaded a few pictures from Mettet...

...will start on my Lydden Hill pictures tonight!
