Not only that. It look Matthias Ekstrom last year's suggestion of having both ICE (synth fuel/hydrogen) and EVs was accepted by the promoter and the FIA. WorldRX in 2024 is back at allowing ICE SuperCars on the grid!
Not sure if looots of teams will have the money to convert those cars to synth fuel (Tbh I have no idea if thats expensive. I imagine it is....) but its a huge step in the right direction. Andrew Coley will probably be a$ked to return according to some rumors. MAYBE this is going back into the right direction.

This sounds good but will the ICE cars still be competitive against the new EVs with their big and instant torque ? Or are they having separate Classes for the different fuel systems?

No they will race together. I'm sure there will have to be some kind of BoP.

    Announcement article here btw.

I imagine they will eventually move to the RallyX format, where theres the WRX Final (where guys like Baumanis, Anton and Odonovan can eventually get to that final on the ICE cars against EVs) and then an RX-AM final, with the 6 best ICE cars. Then you can choose if you want to do WRX or RX-AM final, like in RallyX. I think its an interesting concept. That way will not have the ICE drivers complaining that VW is still building unbeatable cars haha.

The weird part is that the promoter said theres going to be a maximum of 16 entries for each round, with the partial time entries being decided before the rounds.
They are also changing the format again. The heat races are not against the clock anymore (to avoid "rain" changing the results during the weekend)

That sounds like this year's division to World RX and Euro RX like this year, but with extra step. Sounds good for regional championship, not for world championship.

Then how the hell can it be a battle of technologies?

a different way to have the same outcome...what's so strange? you can have 200kw from an electric engine or an ic engine.

Fair enough if it's that simple. But if one technology is consistently better than the other at applying the power, is that it, with no 're-balancing' of performance to be expected? Is that where the real battle lies?
