    Simulators Vs Racing Game

Come on guys lets see what you think? What's better a simulator or a racing game? Having used both for years now, I thought it will be a good idea to get everyone elses opinions!

I'll start with my opinion, I believe that racing games are fantastic, online racing games are becoming better and better every year like iracing is superb, having used a simulator though the reality is unbelievable! I would have to go with the simulator.

Well I've never tried a proper simulator so wouldn't know. And I have to say I've experienced online racing in two games, F1 2010 and Live For Speed and I found the same problem in both, people who just bash through you for fun or people who can't handle a little bit of rubbing, even if it's by mistake or caused by lag.

Better for what? Proper simulators are obviously more realistic in many ways and a great tool for helping understand how set up changes will likely affect a real car but without the additional sensory cues supplied by G forces and feeling through the seat they often feel much less forgiving and slower than real life which can be less fun than a racing game which has a good balance between realism and gameplay.

As Bruce D says online racing can be very frustrating. I have had some fantastic 'races' against some really talented online racers in ghost car mode in the old TRD series games though, two ghost cars racing each other which means there can no intentional or unintentional lag contact just extremely close competition with 'races' won or lost by hundredths of a second often by as little as a 10-20 centimetres nose in front. Great stuff!
