So who will drive the last two races. I assume it will be Davide Valsecchi
Or do you think they will look for someone else.I still exist and still find the forum occasionally. Busy busy

Re: Kimi wont drive the remaining races, due to back problem
What an unfortunate end to one of the most prominent driver-team love stories of the last few years. In my opinion, Lotus is the only front running team, besides Red Bull, that still puts a lot of resources into 2013 championship. I was hoping that, despite the recent spat between Kimi and Lotus regarding his delayed salary and bonuses, he could finish the season on a high note, and perhaps win a race. Motor.ru, one of Russia's leading web-based automotive news sites named his as the number 1 of the top 10 drivers of all motorsports in 2012. All in all, Kimi had a good run with Lotus for these couple of years. In some way, he has reinvigorated not only the Lotus team but all of F1 by returning since 2012.

Re: Kimi wont drive the remaining races, due to back problem
I think that this means that Kimi did not get his money for this year and therefore he opted to go to the back surgery.
Why would you risk your health for somebody, who does not even pay you for doing it?
I think this will also mean that Kimi will have to go to court if he wants to see any of his money. It is a smart move to take the surgery now, because to need for it is obviously genuine and therefore Lotus cannot accuse Kimi for not fulfilling his part of the contract - any doctor will be happy testify, that he was not fit for driving...
It is possible that he was requested to get his back in order as soon as possible by Ferrari as well.

Re: Kimi wont drive the remaining races, due to back problem
Yep , a rundown of the folks involved in the decision makes it a pretty easy choice .
Lotus , striving for points in the championship would naturally see him as their best chance to get them , so , want him to drive .
But , they have trouble paying his salary .
Ferrari , where he just made a visit , had an intimate view into how he was moving , presumably , at his seat fitting , and , given he is signed , also think that he is Lotus's best chance at getting points in that seat .
Though it kinda sucks that we won't see him drive for the last two races , this seems the best way that Kimi can go , getting his body in shape for the campaign next year .
Austin , being new , is a smooooth track , but Brazil certainly isn't , and a bad back there doesn't make things smooth in the race .
These days , with limited testing , nobody but the driver has too much real advantage in the choice for the replacement .
And , next year , the cars are at square one again , to some degree , so there's not much point in switching anyone else in but Valsecchi for the last two .
They don't seem to have the money to do anything else anyway

Good luck to Kimi but great news and chance for Valsecchi then
