An extract from the Toyota Team managers update after yesterdays stage...

"Giniels day was not the same because as he was preparing to start his seat belt came apart and was only able to use 1 shoulder strap which for a driver is a disaster
This prevented him from attacking today which I am sure would has brought a different result.
He survived the stage and we have a spare set of seat belts with us
The Italian manufacturers will be informed to say the least"

Thank goodness nothing went wrong, that is really scary stuff, especially after Roma's big accident.

Huh, is that even allowed to drive without fully working seatbelts?

My thought too! In other motorsports it would mean disqualification, although Dakar may be more relaxed for things like this.

Yazeed had to withdraw due to technical issue this morning:

Sad news from ‪#‎dakarrally‬ ! Yazeed Al Rajhi, who had a great 3rd place in general rankings had to withdraw from Dakar Rally today. There was a major problem with exhaust on his car and he didn't start this morning on Stage 11.
Terrible for the team, let's hope rest of drivers will be fine till the end, there is 3 more stages ahead.. Go ‪#‎overdriveracing‬ !!!

I can see there is now a 15 minutes penalty for Goncalves! That ruins his fight with Coma for victory Also Price got over Quintanilla to the third place.

By the way some nice Dakar spirit story. Czech rider Pabiška was towing Slovak rider Jakeš from the salt lake as Israel was towing Barreda. Another day Pabiška crashed and lightly injured was towed by Slovenian rider Stanovnik to the finish.

Well to be honest, Gonçalves is lucky to still be there. His engine was dead. Thank to Barreda, Rodrigues and Israel he changed it yesterday night. I think that Barreda gave him his engine, and Israel give it to Barreda. Unfortunately for Israel, it was the end ...
