Technically they were different cars. Big changes from year to a year. After all, we're discussing different chassis here. Button won in five different cars, in five years, he beat Vettel in 2009, and his own teammate in 3 out of 5 years, including Hamilton in 2011... so his WDC was far from a fluke IMO.

This years Car will be. Especially if Vettel wins the last 3 races.

If they had a handle on the early tyres they would have won 15 odd races this season.

I think it's safe to say the RB9 is the most dominant car RBR have built now. Wonder if they ( in that I mean Vettel) can take the last 2 races now?

The 2013 RBR reminds me of the 2004 Ferrari, except the dominance has been at the end of the season vs Ferrari at the start in 2004

P.S. Isn't it amazing how a decade after the FIA tried to prevent dominance like this, we are right back where we started!

    Re: RB7 versus RB9

I do wonder if RedBull RB9 dominance is partly a result of the other teams writing off this season. RB7 was quite dominant, but even in 2011 the McLaren car was considered to be roughly equal by the end of season. This year, McLaren was MIA and no other chassis can now possibly be considered equal. Ferrari stopped 2013 chassis development after Spa, and Mercedes probably doesn't invest much in this year's car any more. It seems like only the chaotic Lotus team is still working to take the fight to Red Bull.

Could be zako85 We'll never know for sure, but what we do know if Vettel can pretty much cruise at the moment such is his dominance over every other team, as well as his teammate in an identical car

    Re: RB7 versus RB9

In 2011 Vettel collected 392 points. At the moment he has 347, but if Vettel continues the winning streak, he will have 397 and would beat the 2011 score.

Since the Belgian GP Red Bull RB9 has been better than the RB7. At times the advantage has been huge. In Abu Dhabi Vettel could easily open up half a minute lead by mid-race. Difference is that in 2013 the start into the season has been slower and it is taking a perfect and dominant run at the end of the year to get close to the 2011 points score.

Who would be brave enough to bet against 2 more wins for Seb and surpassing his 2011 points tally? Not me that's for sure! An accident or reliability issue looks like the only way that would transpire.
