    2014 IndyCar Schedule

As we await an announcement of what the 2014 Indycar Calender might be, here are my thoughts of what might happen.

March 16 Brazil (if Sao Paulo is dropped & an alternative found)
    March 29/30 St.Petersburg (doubleheader)
    April 13 Long Beach
    April 27 Barber
    May 10 Indy Grand Prix
    May 25 Indy 500
    May 31/June 1 Detroit (doubleheader)
    June 7 Texas
    June 14 Milwaukee
    June 21 Iowa
    July 6 Pocono
    July 19/20 Toronto (doubleheader)
    August 3 Mid-Ohio
August 9/10 Houston (doubleheader night races)
    August 24 Sonoma
    August 30 Fontana
So, 19 or 20 races depending on what happens with Brazil. St.Pete becomes a doubleheader & the Indy Grand Prix is added. Baltimore is dropped and it's wait and see with Brazil. Another alternative could be to be in Brazil on April 27, and run Barber April 6 to accommodate a 20 race season starting the end of March & finishing at the end of August.

    Re: 2014 IndyCar Schedule

The 2014 IndyCar schedule is announced tomorrow at 8PM ET and is likely to look like this:

    March 30th St.Petersburg
    April 13th Long Beach
    April 27th Barber
    May 10th Indy Grand Prix
    May 25th Indy 500
    May 31st/June 1 Detroit (doubleheader)
    June 7th Texas
    June 21th Iowa
    June 28th/29th Houston (doubleheader)
    July 6th Pocono
    July 19th/July 20th Toronto (doubleheader)
    August 3rd Mid-Ohio
    August 17th Milwaukee
    August 24th Sonoma
    August 30th Fontana

It seems that an 18-race schedule will be announced. St.Pete will start the season, but will be a single race event. Long Beach & Barber will trade places. The Indy Grand Prix is added prior to the Indy 500. Milwaukee moves to mid-August to accommodate Houston at the end of June, but most other races remain the same. The season ends in Fontana on Labor Day weekend. Baltimore is gone and Brazil could go as well, although it is believed negotiations are ongoing. If Brazil stays, then I expect that race will be the season opener in mid-March.

It's gonna be hot in Fontana.

Wouldn't that be a night race?
