IMHO Jordan is different. Stages are purposely made-for-WRC (remember the Army building it around Amman?), so it would fit extremely well. Furthermore, Aqaba and Eilat are a new tourism destination, with lots of developements around the town-city. For example: Abu Dhabi's Al Maabar company is putting a $10 billion real estate investment there. And, after all, I don't think different local media would write any BS around it, if there's really nothing on the table.
We'll see how it develops in Jordan, Nasser is right in having a round in the region, IMHO it would also be a boost new sponsorships for the sport (i.e.: Abu Dhabi-Citroen team).

Finally they've realised twinning Mexico and Argentina makes sense instead of travelling from Europe to North America to Europe to South America then back to Europe! Now they just need to bring back New Zealand in an August date before the crews head to Australia

It doesn't make any difference.
The cars always fly.
Whether they go one after the other or there's another event in Europe doesn't matter. They have second set of equipment (except cars) that go from one long haul event to another.
Adding NZ would just add another expensive set of airfares for all the staff and the cars.

Shame Jordan wasn't included, it's an event I would really like to go to
If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off!
First leg he will be thinking in Portuguese championship. Then he can go for WRC2.
