Let’s not be that harsh; some minor back office mistakes aren’t enough to undermine such a fantastic season start. The main thing is to have no issues during the event, so that we all can be able to enjoy this great show. Even the weather looks promising for the weekend!

Rally Power, I'm not talking about the fantastic season start! I'm talking about Demoporto! They're awfull and on the organization side they're rallies are a mess. Apart from Espinho Rally it was the least scored rally of the season... and we had a great season opener last year as well!

Actually, in the last 15 years Araújo is, by far, the most notable Portuguese rally driver: 4 national titles; 2 PWRC titles; 2 seasons in top WRC category. For sure we can miss Magalhães (fully focused on getting an ERC budget), Sousa (abandoned the sport in 2016) or Campos (just 2 or 3 events per year in last seasons), nevertheless, the current Serras de Fafe list is beyond the most optimistic expectations; probably, only the permanently unsatisfied rally fans (sort of hard costumers of the sport) could ask for more!

Great CPR start at Fafe. Despite the accidents and delays it was a nice event to watch. Moura and Barbosa were clearly above the rest, fighting for the victory till the last stage (1.7s between them after the last SS). Meireles, Fontes and Barros weren’t on their peak form and Hyundai’s drivers (Vieira and Armindo) weren’t able to show their best due to minor tech issues. In 2WD Antunes looked (and performed) superior, finishing ahead the spectacular Nunes and Llarena (all in 208’s). Matos (Evo IX) won the gravel cup and Peres the regional event. Açores will be the next CPR event.
PS: Some hours after the end of the rally, Barbosa and Meireles were, surprisingly, penalized in 10s, due to alleged false starts on Saturday city stage; no big deal for Barbosa, but Meireles unfairly lost P3 to Fontes.
Rally Serras de Fafe (top 10):
1. Ricardo Moura/António Costa - Ford Fiesta R5; 1:26:07.8
2. Miguel Barbosa/Hugo Magalhães - Skoda Fabia R5; +11.7
3. José Pedro Fontes/Paulo Babo - Citroën DS3 R5; +1:50.6
4. Pedro Meireles/Mário Castro - Skoda Fabia R5; +1:52.4
5. Armindo Araújo/Luís Ramalho - Hyundai i20 R5; +2:12.5
6. Carlos Vieira/Jorge Carvalho - Hyundai i20 R5;M +2:24.5
7. João Barros/Jorge Henriques - Ford Fiesta R5; +2:48.3
8. Alexander Villanueva/Oscar Sanchez - Skoda Fabia R5; +3:03.6
9. Paulo Meireles/Marcos Gonçalves - Hyundai i20 R5; +4:52.7
10.Harry Hunt/Steve Phee - Citroen DS3 R5; +6:04.3

RallyPower, know you see what I told about the organisers?
BTW, Ricardo Matos (Evo IX) was the top scorer in North Regional and Kuhmo Challenge as well! Due to some confusing rules in here he only won the Cup

Barbosa and Meireles time penalties were probably given by the stewards (2 FIA delegates +1 from FPAK), not the organizers and most of the halts were due to road blocking accidents. For sure many things can be improved on this rally, but overall it’s unfair to say the organizers are a disaster.
