Honnestly, it wasn’t a surprise to see Breen dominating our top drivers on last year Rali de Mortágua, but having Arai doing the same this year was a bit shocking. Even Katsuta pace would be enough to get P2, without his SS4 puncture. It’s fair to say that most of our guys had also some issues (punctures for Fontes, Vieira and Araújo, tyre choice for Teodósio and time penalty for Barbosa) still they were never able to cope with Toy’s juniors speed.

Eventually Araújo managed to be the first CPR driver, ahead of Meireles and Vieira. Despite engine troubles Antunes (208) won 2wd class, while Teotónio (Evo IX) was the best N4. Gravel cup won by Matos (Evo IX) and the Centro regional series by Nunes (Impreza N11).

Rali de Mortágua – Top 10
    1. Hiroki Arai/Glenn Macneall - Ford Fiesta R5; 1h:13m:31.20s
    2. Armindo Araújo/Luís Ramalho - Hyundai I20 R5; +1m:02.60s
    3. Katsuta Takamoto/Marko Salminem - Ford Fiesta R5, +1:05.20
    4. Pedro Meireles/Mário Castro - Skoda Fabia R5; +1:06.10
    5. Carlos Vieira/Jorge Carvalho - Hyundai I20 R5; +1:44.80
    6. Ricardo Teodósio/José Teixeira - Skoda Fabia R5; +2:14.00
    7. Joaquim Alves/António Costa - Skoda Fabia R5; +3:12.90
    8. Manuel Castro/Luís Costa - Hyundai I20 R5; +4:01.50
    9. Miguel Barbosa/Hugo Magalhães - Skoda Fabia R5; +4:09.70
    10. Pedro Almeida/Nuno Almeida - Ford Fiesta R5; +5:22.00

At Madeira regional series, another amazing win for João Silva/Victor Calado in the DS; despite leading Rali da Calheta since SS1, they got strong opposition from Camacho/Calado on the Fabia. At the end only 0.2s between the two top crews! Nunes/Paulo (DS) took P3. http://www.amaweb.pt/2018/calheta/

The 12 initial stages of Rally de Portugal were the 4th round of the Portuguese rally championship (CPR). Another win for Armindo Araújo and the i20 after a close fight with Miguel Barbosa (Fabia). Bad luck for Fontes on the C3 debut (electronic issue) and Meireles on the Fabia (broken gearbox), while Vieira (i20) was absent. Daniel Nunes (208) won 2wd class, ahead of Gil Antunes (Clio). Araújo is now leading the CPR, ahead of Moura and Barbosa.

No good news after day 1 of Rally Vidreiro.

Current Champion Carlos Vieira had an hard off and is currently in hospital, in quite a serious condition.

    Car is a write off:

Positive news about Carlos Vieira health condition: he’s recovering after a successful surgery. Jorge Carvalho, Vieira codriver, also received medical care but he’s already at home. Probably it’ll take a while to have them back at the series, but hopefully they’ll return even stronger than before. Força Campeões!

Veiria crash impressed the rally community and it took away some of the interest on this rally results. Nevertheless, Armindo Araújo dominated and took another win, becoming the title favourite. His main rival, Miguel Barbosa, was only P6, after 2 punctures. Ricardo Teodósio finished at P2, ahead of Pedro Meireles.
