Do the Pirelli tyres still make him eligible for ERC points?
Sounds like a pretty confusing system haha

They are still good for ERC indeed, until September 30. This is because Pirelli and Yokohama did not have a new tyre ready when the new rules were published, so it would be unfair to them... Especially since Yokohama is sponsor of Eurosport, they had to do something...

We shall point out the originally the new tyres were planned to be used since September. Only later there was a last minute decision to speed things up and use them since May. It's not difficult to find Michelin (and probably DMack) lobbying behind that...

In my opinion it's quite major f***up from FIA and ES. Such important rules shall be applied for a whole season since the very first event and not to come in the middle...

What are the major changes introduced?
Are the Pirellis or Yokohama tyres expected to have an advantage over the new ERC style Michelin and DMack?

In my understanding the new ERC tyres are basically same with WRC ones (in regulations) however Michelin prepares special ones for ERC (on Corsica there were WRC ones used). That is single pattern, two compounds, nothing else for all conditions. Unlike in WRC it's allowed in ERC to cut tyres if it's agreed in the supplementary regulations or announced by a bulletin.

I can't speak about the performance differences between new tyres and the Pirelli/Yokohama recent ones but I would guess the later will be better for dry conditions while probably lacking something in wet.

From supplementary regulations: "The intentional modification of the design of the tyre (hand-cutting) is not allowed during the shakedown and the rally. A waiver, to allow hand-cutting, could be granted by the Clerck of the Course in case of the weather forecast or extreme weather conditions. In this case all competitors will be informed through a communication by the Clerck of the Course." So I expect cutting to be allowed only if there is some heavy rain or rain throughout the whole rally predicted...

Well these regulations seem logical, what is not is why introduce it in the middle of the season and even rush it. Probably as mentioned before due to Michelin putting pressure on FIA. Also it makes sense to allow tyre cutting in extreme rain conditions, something that IMO must be introduced in WRC as well.

This rule is nothing new, it is in regional rally championship regulations from the beginning. There is one thing to think - cutting must be allowed by bulletin. And in time. And sometimes it is difficult to predict the weather and allow it in time...

How do you believe the performance of the Ford Fiesta S2000 is in comparison to other S2000 cars like the 207 and Fabia and the RRC fiesta etc?
