It was interesting to note that on the whole. The gap to 10th was 1.5-2.5 seconds nearly all the way through.
The bottom cars were more often than not 4-6 seconds off. Although in the cases of Ide, Yoong and Marques the gap was to do more with the drivers rather than the car.
2009 was the exceptional year with the grid so close.
I think 2013 would be about 4.5-5 seconds spread quite evenly. So you may be right it appears Toro Rosso & Williams have slipped slightly to 2.5-3 seconds behind.
Of course it could be even more next season.I still exist and still find the forum occasionally. Busy busy

Yeah, it looks like the grid has spread out a bit since last year, and sadly it appears that your prediction of Red Bull running away with it this year is coming true...
As for Marussia; has anyone noticed that they're pretty close to the cars in front of them? I wonder if this is actually the closest they got to P2. I will list the gaps of the 4 cars in front relative to Bianchi: Q1 TIMES ONLY
15.Valtteri Bottas (Williams) -0.819
16.Adrian Sutil (Force India) -0.817
17.Pastor Maldonado (Williams) -0.533
18.Esteban Gutierrez (Sauber) -0.371
19.Jules Bianchi (Marussia) 1:48.147
That looks pretty impressive I think. Timo Glock may even have been able to get a place or 2 higher, but given Bianchi's gap to Chilton, it looks like Jules did a good lap. It may be encouraging to note that Marussia have usually improved after the first race, though last year they wee simply so unprepared so they were bound to improve. Also, their funds for development are pretty low.SPAM - Going off topic to give you the deals you don't want.

Yer early days, but I think the Marussia looks good.
Bianchi and Chilton both look at home and as you point out the gap to the next 3 or 4 cars is less than a second.I still exist and still find the forum occasionally. Busy busy

I wonder if Sauber regret getting rid of Kobayashi for guiterrez.
I just watched the race again and the guy looked really raw.
Like he needed an entire season of Friday practices.you can't argue with results.

Having base-to-car radio comms used to be common, right? The only truly novel thing would be having it be open for broadcasting purposes. So yeah, imo radio is fine, but using it to milk...
