    But 'sequence shortened' actually happens (eventually) whereas game adverts are totally made up in a kind of 'we wish the game looked like this', but doesn't actually show the produce as sold?

    Why should there be any requirement to? So long as the advert isn't misleading or factually incorrect, I don't see how anyone can have a problem. It's not as if the notices saying it's not actual footage are particularly small.
