FIA is probably saying: "We had the opportunity to create a truly amazing championship inside the WRC as step-up to the WRC, but in stead we made WRC2."

Drivers have to sign up before they enter the first event, and then they have to nominate every event they drive, up to 7. So if 2 drivers are fighting for the WRC-2 championship in the beginning and one starts only in the 5th round, the one who starts in the 5th round can still be champion because other drivers have used their 7 tries already... (Or how to win a competition without competition.)

Abdulaziz Al Kuwari will do WRC-2 next year. Either in a Fiesta RRC or a Mini S2000 1.6T

    WRC2 is for all non-WRC 4WD cars. S2000, RRC, group N, R5 etc.

All 4WD cars count (exept WRC). you do not need to choose between 8 rounds but you can choose between all rounds.

And what is important You don't nominate Your point scoring events sooner than in the event entry form which could lead to what Tommeke says, main contenders may not meet more than once or twice during the season...

In reality because many competitors will want to avoid the cost of long haul we will see a concentration around the European events from Portugal onwards. This means that Italy, NORF and the tarmac rounds are likely to see the top guys head to head.

That doesn't prevent anyone from winning the championship by doing all the most distant events. I don't say he would do it but for example Al Rahji sure can do that.

True - the guys with big budgets can chose the most expensive events for less competition. As you say this could give Al Rajhi an advantage on top of his improvement in 2012

I'm pretty sure the best six scores from the first seven events a driver takes part in will count for points. At least, that's what Wikipedia says.
