    The new 'weapon' ...

    Its a Grp4 Tarmac Spec Mk2.

    Spec:

    Fully seam welded
    Weld-in multi-point cage
Front bulkhead modified to allow engine to be moved rearwards by 18cm.
All steel JRE 2.0 XE on Jenvey TB's-297bhp@9k rpm.
    Motronic? ECU
T5 Big tooth 5sp box as used by the racing TVR's (To be ditched)
Coilovers all round with Bilstein dampers.
Electric power steering (Corsa unit) with rotary potentiometer for assistance control.

99-ish % finished now, just some tidying up to do and we are going to get a Quaiffe Sequential gearbox for it once we have finalised the spring/damper settings and set it up.

Haven't really tested it properly but it feels insanely quick and Im looking forward to the coming weeks very much.

Once it's finished what are you planning to do with it?

Track days initially but when we are both fully at one with it and the set-up... maybe some sprint events?

Lovely piece of kit! I would love to see it on a hillclimb.

What gearbox are you planning to replace? How about MX-5?

I think you should post your engine going up through the gears!

Thanks Wedge but with 195lb/ft of torque Im not sure a Mx5 gearbox would be the way forwards in terms of reliability. The straight cut big tooth T5 box we have can handle the power fine but its just not very slick making fast changes near impossible, its holding the car back and so looking at going down the sequential route.
Our main options are: Elite IL300 6S (Probably too soft), Quaife 60G (Most likely option) , Tractive RD905/RD906 (Great reputation but expensive). The Saenz TT3 boxes are also earning a very good reputation with the top mk2 irish guys and come with paddleshift and/or flatshift options.

I'll get some videos up though after its 1st test.

    Jealous!

Do you know where the MSA will stand on the bulkhead being altered and engine moved? Since K.37 I thought that they'd got a bit uppity about any modifications in that area. Doesn't matter if you're using it for track days and possibly won't be an issue getting it into sprints/hillclimbs, just might cause an issue if you ever want to go rallying or sell it to someone that wants to go rallying.
You're so beige, you probably think this signature is about someone else.
