When was the last season with 10 or less rounds in ERC? I don't remember any serious talks about 10 events for 2013. As I recall that was only a wish of some of us...

Now I checked, it was 11. After Elpa was canceled it was 10 in 2011 and also 2010 (so was IRC).

Anyhow, they only need to compete in eight for a good chance of the title. I don't know how many scores were taken in previous years of ERC?

That doesn't change the point of Jarek. Imagine someone has unlimited budget. He can drive 13 events flat out and 5x crash and still win the title (see case of Mikkelsen in IRC). More events doesn't make the championship better.

You are not. I didn't say more events is better, in fact I think quite the reverse. But I don't understand the constant whinging about it - because of the "8 best scores" rule they do not need to compete in all events and I don't think the length of calendar would have a significant impact on whether certain drivers can put a programme together. I think the European economy in general is having a far bigger effect on that.

Counting only 8 of 13 makes the championship very strange. The number of events to be skipped is too high. It's also very difficult to follow for the audience. I don't like any skipping at all but if it must be done than it's better to keep it for just one or two but not 40% of all!
