    aper:

Please folks, let's not re-start the US gun laws debate on this motor sport forum.

I thought that was the whole point of Chit-Chat. I know it's likely to end up in a circular and pointless argument, but surely unless it degenerates into personal insults the thread should remain open?

I took the decision not to allow 'shootings' type threads as they always go the same way with the same people arguing the same points which then degenerate into insults. Then Glaustien shows up and posts an essay, gets banned and sends me a poorly worded email with vague threads about advertising income.

Plus I haven't the time nor the patience and neither do the moderators.

I don't think it is "gun ownership" that generates the expression of disgust and contempt, it is the inhuman lack of empathy for victims shown by a tiny subset of writers blabbering about "their rights" in threads again and again about innocent people being murdered senselessly--and rapidly--..

Yeah best to lock it down, nothing could be gained by examining again and again how just a narrow subset is so self centered they can never think of anybody else's pain and suffering..And how common that train of thought is in one country.

I saw the post quoted in the original post in this thread just now, and was rather concerned by it, even though I have much respect for that particular moderator.

But it wasn't you who made the comment about which I'm concerned. Hope it doesn't set a precedent.

D-Type knows our policy on not having gun threads, which is what the comment was about. I'm not sure what else it could have been about?
