Now there's a familiar voice. And yet, in all the years I can remember hearing him on commentaries, I don't think I've ever heard him broadcasting live.

Nor me. Speaks a bit too quickly, in my view — in a rushed rather than excited way — but eloquent and fluent with a good voice. Probably a fine choice.

Really pleased with this decision; he's got a great deal of wit and doesn't over-do it unless it's absolutely necessary. It's so important to start on a level where they have room to get even more excited, and I think David has that ability. Plus, he has a ridiculous level of knowledge of the sport - I don't think we'll be seeing too many factual errors from him. Toby Moody honestly decreased my enjoyment of the 2012 season just a little bit, so this can only make things better.

I think if you look back through the thread, nobody was doubting that Toby is a good bloke, just a poor commentator. The same could be said of F1's James Allen: a superb journalist and an insightful pitlane reporter, just not suited to commentary. It's a tremendously difficult job and we've been spoiled by the likes of Ben Edwards making it seem easy.

Don't think I've ever heard him commentate. Seems a bit calmer though so I suppose that bodes well.
