The field is bloody close so picking a winner (other than safe bet Checa) is a coin toss, especially with so many Brits vying for national pride. John Hopkins isn't riding as he's injured (again!) and has been replaced by local, Peter Hickman and Kawaski have found a more than reasonable replacement for the injured Joan Lascorz (get well soon) in talented young 19 year old Frenchman, Loris Baz. I really like that Baz runs the number 65 of his namesake, Loris Capirossi. Both he and Hickman have done a terrific job and to be within 1.6 seconds of the pace and miss out on Superpole is harsh.
Should be a cracking race.

Most interesting, apart from the disappointing distance between the riders compared to the superbikes, is the strong run of the wildcard Triumphs of Glen Richards (probably putting his 125cc skills to good use) and Billy McConnell. Hopefully they can add some spice up front. Also, Fabien Foret has been well off the pace and will want to find something for final qualifying and the race or it could be another poor point scorer for him.
As an odd spot, Superstock 1000 rider, Bryan Staring, crashed in qualifying at Monza and missed the race due to breaking his pinky finger. Not just one though, he broke both and had to get them splinted! Yikes!Get off my lawn
