    Firstly, Mothers Day was weeks ago. Even if you mean USA mothers day, you're two days early.

    That would get me cut off for a month. If I purchase anything for a "special occasion" at the last minute it shows lack of thought and planning in my wifes eyes even if it's a gift she likes. Planning is everything,

    Due to that I got home early today and paid rush shipping on some chocolate covered strawberries that will be delivered tomorrow, and thus drive home the point that I planned it weeks ago. The rush charges are a small price to pay in this instance.

    Our first Mothers Day is going to suck because I dropped my wife and my daughter to the airport this morning and they'll be away for a week.

    It depends where you are: this Wikipedia page explains the variations. It comes with the standard Wikipedia health warning - but this one looks OK.
