    TaxPayers' Alliance on Question Time

Last night our Campaign Director Emma Boon gave a strong performance on BBC One's Question Time. It’s the first time one of our team has been on the BBC’s flagship political discussion show and we’re immensely proud of her. Discussions centred on honours for bankers, international aid and NHS reform, with Emma receiving the loudest applause of the evening. Throughout the programme Emma and the TaxPayers’ Alliance were top trending topics on Twitter worldwide.

During the course of the evening it became clear International Development Minister Alan Duncan MP wasn’t particularly happy about our forthright criticism of the increases in the aid budget. The audience clearly backed Emma’s opposition to giving development money to nations which can afford their own space programme. If you missed the show you can still watch it on iPlayer.

Nowt wrong with debating with a troll.

I know someone who worked for an NGO for a few years but left after becoming disillusioned with International Aid organisations and rife corruption in African countries.

Not sure why we the UK give India aid, when it buys fighter jets from the French - feck em.

TPA lady did v well and certainly had the biggest support from the audience (no mean feat in view of the way the Beeb fixes it to make sure it is packed with lentil munching Guardianistas).

High time taxes were slashed to get things going again. Drop VAT back to 17½, 10k allowance, 20% across the board income tax, drop fuel duty - get folk spending again - only way.

Because they are entitled to do so under the principles of the free market, which you also support?

It takes a very special kind of mind to come back after a ban, carry on as though there was nothing wrong with his previous manner of posting and then get banned again. Quite something.
