Thanks! MIKKO - just got up and was obviously not either thoroughly awake or adequately sobered up!
Mods can someone correct the title for me so I don't upset the half of Finland that are forum members!

Actually the 3rd cousin of Mr Antilla - I asked for the Mod to correct my error in the Thread title and all that happened is the thread was shunted to this sub thread 3rd circle of Hades where forum posters can go mad without the worry that a sane person will be checking it out- So what's your excuse Ble?

    The Legendary Safari-Rally

Any hopes of re-instating Kenya back into WRC Calendar? Rumours are Brazil and South Africa have already expressed interests though 2014. The Safari-Rally was one of the toughest rally in the world. East African classic still reigns with an entry of old antique rally cars

No hopes in my opinion. For plenty of reasons. Safari is sure nice piece of history but nowadays this kind of competition fits only in marathon events.

I prefer the Safari when it was driven in a time control system, but the late WRC version could still do well in todays championship (especially under Todt´s rule). But no money no go.

The WRC without the Safari is like roast beef without Yorkshire pudding – not quite right....

Is there a better sound than that of Porsche engined Flat-6 ???

The WRC isn't expensive enough yet! Let's add an event with 3x as much km's SS and road section, it's a huge cost to get the whole team and everything there too. Some extra parts need to be developed as well for this event only, but of course all manufacturers will agree with that, wouldn't they? You can't close the stages from normal traffic, but who cares about safety?

Safari Rally has been something incredible, but for me it just doesn't fit anymore in what our sport is today... It is not realistic anymore.

I do hate to quote myself like this, but does anyone have an answer to this question? I didn't see one.
