Well that's a good job then, because he's not going to score any points.

Bertelli retired from 8th in Argentina with gearbox failure on the penultimate stage. But still, he's a self-funded privateer driving for fun, not a candidate for a factory seat.

More details of Ford Performance and their technical involvement:
    https://www.motorsport-news.co.uk/ne...-from-america/

Looks to me like they will tap into FP in America behind the scenes (similar to what they did in WRX), but we won't see Ford officially return as a manufacturer any time soon.

I can't understand how some of you guys are fixated with "factory team". Does it really matter? Was Ralliart or Prodrive a "factory team"? No, they were backed by a car company to run a rally program. Hell, even the TTE was pretty much Ove Anders son's pet project till the mid 90s. What is really significant is that Ford was and is still backing M Sport to run a World Rally program. If the team is not named "Ford World Rally Team" or "Ford Performance " is secondary.

    Agreed.

In my mind Tommi Mäkinen Racing is private company backed by car company, there is no "Gazoo" named company in Finland.
But if we compare all current WRC teams, M-Sport is most privateer.

Tommi Mäkinen Racing does not run the Toyota Yaris WRC cars. Its drivers are Jarkko Nikara, Takamoto Katsuta and Hiroki Arai.

But it's true that the WRC teams are separate units from the factory. Citroen is probably the most factory-run team of the current ones?

You’re right; still, once Ford is technically helping and somehow funding MSport, it seems a waste not having Ford name in the WRC manufacturer entry and see them not profiting from the new Fiesta rally success (no official mention on the media or throught their importers/dealers net).

It is indeed Tommi Makinen Racing that runs the WRC team.

The Toyota Gazoo moniker is a branding that's laid on top of Tommi Makinen Racing.

The structure is almost identical to how it is / was with Ford and M-Sport.
