Williams co-founder Patrick Head has formally ended his engagement in Formula One racing after more than three decades, turning his attention to hybrid technology development.
Head, 65, entered motorsport after university at the age of 23 and founded the Williams F1 team in 1977 with Frank Williams. He helped them win seven drivers' championships, nine constructors' crowns and 113 Grands Prix.VERSTAPPEN: ‘If I’d let Sainz past, dad would’ve kicked me in the nuts!’

This has been on the cards for some time now, but still sad to see it happen. Good luck to him and I hope that 2012 sees a slight resurgence in the team's form. Though if they insist on a Maldonado/Senna lineup that may be difficult...
