IMHO, Robert Kubica is in a very tough position, its going to be hard to get back in a good team after what will be a 2 yr break at that pt

Kubica breaks with his doctor, "Differing opinions on rehab" - motor sports - La Gazzetta dello Sport
"back to driving" — The precise motives for this split are not known, but it seems that the difference in views between the directors at Renault and the medical staff regarding the time needed for recovery figure in to the decision. Renault (now Lotus) have shelved Kubica for 2012 in favour of Grosjean and he continues to be monitored by Ferrari, with an eye on their 2013 season. However, Dr. Ceccarelli has also said that he has no doubts on Kubica's possibilities to return to being an F1 driver again: "I have no doubt that Kubica will be driving again in 2012, but he needs time. Nature must take its course, but his moment will come."

I don't think that anyone would sign him before some testing...

I read from James Allen's blog that Kubica is targeting June as comeback for testing. So it would take some time nonetheless.
