They started with Reiger because Reiger supplied dampers for the S2000. Only later they switched to Sachs. I think the change happened only after Barum.

Reiger were always awesome on bumpy, jumpy tarmac (think Ireland too).
I presume they must have some disadvantage on other surfaces though if Skoda don't use them for the R5?

no they dont have disadvantage,is just easier to rebuild/have spares parts for 1 make of shocks, easier to co operate with one company when changes are nessesary etc.
probably they prefered sachs like the mother vw as a German product. Not a bad decision as we saw from polo at all surfaces.

I don't think that Reiger is that much better for bumpy stages. Cars like Fiesta WRC/S2000/R5 and Fabia S2000 were part of a revolution in terms of suspension geometry, allowing the spring travel to be extremely big. I think it's more coincidence that those cars were having Reiger suspension. In R2-class for example Fabia R2 runs on Reiger too, and when it comes to bumpy surfaces it's probably the worst of the class... VW Polo WRC runs on Sachs too. It's likely Skoda can take advantage of the dampers and knowledge developed by VW/Sachs in WRC. And in WRC in the suspension-part nothing beats the Polo, it really "eats" the rough sections and bumps where others (especially DS3) are losing some time.

If I see right, the electronics is Magnetti Marelli.

For me it sound reasonable to remove Hybrid from the car in terms of cost saving. If I am not mistaken, one unit is ca 15% of the total car cost. And in most of the rallies, more than one unit is...
