I still think there's time for Emil. Really not too much 4WD experience at all. I think as fans we are guilty of trying to expect too much too quickly.
But then not too many guys are going to look favourable compared against someone like Ogier or more recently Suninen. Teemu's learning curve is very impressive. He won a WRC2 round in his first year of 4WD. Some good luck to do that but still. Which is why I was saying we should be at least seeing some signs that Bergkvist has the pace. Even if he doesn't have results at the end.

Yes, maybe people are expecting too much from Bergkvist?
Marijan Griebel took a similar path as Bergkvist in his career. He also won Junior ERC as a works Opel driver. Then they both quickly switched to R5 cars. Bergkvist was 4th in Valais, but Griebel was 2nd in Cyprus. Then Griebel backed up this result by being 2nd also on Azores, where the entry list was very good. Which means that Griebel continues to impress, Bergkvist doesn't...Last edited by Jarek Z; 10th April 2017 at 18:05.

I still think that biggest mistake of Emil was that he was going to WRC2 too quickly. And from beginning he wanted to fight for best places with factory drivers... He should stay one year in ERC with R5 car to know the car well...

To me it´s also about economy. Bergkvist had to take what they could afford. And the Citroen wasn´t, and isn´t the best car. The Citroen is way from the pace reliability compared to Skoda and Fiesta.
I have seen him driving 4WD cars in sweden and don´t think that´s the problem.
If you don´t drive many rallies and on top of all, when you do your seldom apparencies you have more on your shoulders than just driving fast.
That combination to me, could be an explanation. However he´s done mistakes as well, so at the time being I´m quite mixed up with the feelings for Emil. Should want him the best, but that hasn´t been seen for long now."Reis vas pät pat kaar vas kut"

R5 with paddleshift in 2018? Costs will increase. Stupid guys will damage the best car rules in years.

Yes, MSport was testing it already mid last year.
I think FIA will tell that WRC cars become more advanced, so they need to make R5 more advanced also, etc. And main reason is to make R5 more expensive to make room for new R4, as currently it won't be much cheaper than R5...

Does paddleshift even make the cars quicker or just easier to drive?
What other changes are coming to R5?

Restrictor size will change too
I am from Gran Canaria. I am absolutely convinced that there will be no problem with the rally.
