Avon Tyres British GT Championship 2011

    Hi Motorsport Fans,

Started up a new British GT site for the 2011 season with exclusive driver interviews and general news from the British GT series.

Have a look and check back for updates throughout the week as more drivers give their views on the season ahead and the official driver entry list is announced.

Any feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Hi Joe,

Thought I was the only Brtish GT fan in this country!

Love the site btw. I now grasp the new time penalty rule thanks to it. It should be employed in the BTCC. May give it extra spice. Because it certainly will with the British GT series. Round 3 I think will be especially interesting because it is the first race over the 1hr (2hrs). So whoever will be classified 3rd at Oulton Park (round 2) will have the same time period of 10secs going to Spa (round 3) as that driver who goes into a race 1hr or under who finished the last race 2nd. And the driver who finishes 2nd at the end of round 2 will go into the first of the two Spa races with the same time (15secs) as a driver going into a race 1hr or under who won the last race.

So nobody will really escape scot free.

Only one issue for me. Driver pairings. Just read more on it and a Grade A and a Grade C pair are allowed but with +40kg. What if a team cannot get another Grade of driver?

Thanks, glad you like it, another interview with Aaron Scott going up this afternoon so check back to read that if you are interested.

As far as the driver pairings go I'm not exactly sure how black and white the grading system is.

I think they'd much rather have a full grid and would sort something out, but there are so many drivers out there that I can't imagine it being that tough to find a suitable pairing.

Indeed. It always does. But we do have a series that has attracted names noted for doing the BTCC or it's support series. Glynn Geddie (ex-Porsche Carrera Cup GB), John Bintcliffe, Frank Wrathall (ex-Ginetta G50) and Jonathan Adam (ex Motorbase Performance and SEAT Cupra racer). All of them in the GT3 class where the cars are better. And of course Anthiny Reid who is a legend in the BTCC doing the GTC.

Some good racing is in store methinks.

Thanks for the great feedback. There have been lots of new posts over the last few weeks including one about the Snetterton corner names.

I would be really grateful if you could leave a comment or two on the site about what you think of the new season etc. Only takes a second or two and it would really help me out!

I will be reporting from the first race at Oulton Park so expect video, slideshow of pics and driver interviews from trackside!

We still have a way to go. We need to find out who will be running the Scuderia Vittoria cars (The GT3 Ascari and the G4 Maserati Trofero), the pairing in the GT3 Mtech class Ferari 458 Italia and the teams GT3B Ferarri F430's, who will be running alongside Dan Eagling in the WSM Racing DBRS9 in the GT3 class and in the G4 class, the drivers for Lotus Motorsport, Peter Erceg's partner at Barwell and the pair for ABG Motorsport.
