Oppose to Proton Basso proved himself to be able to win in tarmac rallies. So I really don't believe Proton made such huuuge step forward. You play with numbers like 1 sec/km was something easy to reach. That's huge difference in fact.

Juha Hanninen is very impressive, and back in the lead again in the IRC. Hopefully he will have the same speed and luck in SWRC in next rounds.
    Hanninen 33 points
    Bouffier 31
    Loix 30
    Wilks 25
    Kopecky 22

Where are the PG fans now? He is really the must overrated driver for a long time... Basso is much faster than him and this for the first rally in this car.
You are wrong, he is not overrated, its just that he's simply not as fast as Basso on Tarmac .... Remember his stage times when he was driving an Evo 10 in an IRC outing last year, his stage times were right behind some of the front runners.

Wait till you see PG and the Proton on gravel. I think he'll be much more closer to the Pugs and Skodas.... The power deficit on the proton won't be as much of a significant impediment on gravel as it clearly is on Tarmac......

Take into account the 1980's Group A Mazda 323, with a tiny 1.6 litre engine, no where near the Lancias on Tarmac but able to live with the Deltas on gravel as proved by Ingvar Carlsson

Yes, the sWRC champ with a 50kg lighter car would have finished 9th, just in front of Basso.

I already said, Pons does not have the level to fight in the IRC.

I didn't expect too much from Pons, but i was dissapointed in performance of Alberto Hevia, i expected him to be a lot quicker. Only Fuster was impressive in the "big" Porsche.
