Well I am not going to dig through 14 pages of posts to read it all, but I will state my opinions on my own here, and people can go from there or not.

Prostitution in Canada is sort of in limbo. The solicitation law was written in such a way that a challenge before the Supreme Court ended up taking it down. So it isn't "legal" in Canada, but it isn't illegal. Well, actually that doesn't define it either. It used to be illegal to live off the avails of prostitution. So pimping was illegal, it was illegal to solicit for sex. However, being an escort WAS legal, so really, you have a quasi legal sort of world. The back pages of many papers is full of ads that are essentially "Adult Entertainment"....or in other wards, a hooker. It is I think a typically Canadian sort of situation. We wont come out and admit we tolerate prostitution, but the law will turn a blind eye to it for the most part. Some of the best webpages you can ever see online are for escorts in Canada. Stunning professional efforts. This isn't the illegal street walker (something no one really wants), but the pro's really take pride in their appearence from what I can tell, and operate in such a way that they do quite well. The fact their condo isn't going to be seized if some client is with her at the time due to the lack of law now just makes their life a little easier, but as I said, the law really turned a blind eye to things. The Federal Government keeps making noises about passing another law to stop things that the courts may find more in favour with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, but I suspect unless there is a groundswell for it, they would be smart enough to leave it alone.
