Some thoughts from a nice Rallye de Ourense.
    Positive:
    - Great job from organisers improving spectator’s safety standards: media campaigns and effective crowd control measures are making local rally fans more sensible.
    – Huge diversity of rally cars: from almost road cars like the Dacia’s to the Gt’s or Proto’s (even Ramos Dytko Polo, that finish last, was among the public favorites).
    – Garcia’s driving and the N+ handling: the Evo isn’t the most spectacular car around, but it’s damn fast and the set up seems perfect.
    – 2wd strong field: according to SS’s stages Vidal in the S1600 Swift dominated but both the Clio and the R2 guys were always fighting and showing great speed.
    Neutral:
    - Swift N5 debut: the car looks nice and sounds great but suffered from many problems. Lots of work ahead to get N5’s fast on tarmac, still they‘re promising.
    Negative:
    - 911’s small restrictor. The “wow factor” that came from Porsche’s amazing acceleration almost disappeared. Burgo and Ares tried hard but their restricted cars are clearly slower delivering power.
    – R5 driver’s performance. Vallejo still fighting to get a proper feeling from the car and Perez is probably giving his best but he’s not a top driver, yet.

IMO R5’s aren’t slower than N+’s; Canarias Rally SS’s times prove it at the beginning of the season and both Senra and Pernia managed to be at Garcia’s level on the previous events. RFEA must avoid FIA strict rules and with small changes on local regs (maybe a 35mm restrictor on the N+’s and definitely a larger one on the Gt’s) they can came out with a fair BoP, keeping the exciting diversity that every Spanish rally fan is glad and proud to have on their national rally championship.

PS: did anyone take a look on Teleminho broadcast? Was it ok?

What is N5? Saw that Swift on pic, but thought it was misspelled letters (eg. numbers)

N5 it’s the Spanish version of the Maxi Rally category. The cars use the same main components (engine, transmission, sub frame chassis, etc) but can be built over bodies of different brands. A sort of an silhouette rally car. There’s more info on the “R4 think tank” thread.
