It's difficult to give one single reason to the A Coruña rally, mainly because the accident can't be explained with one reason. It's a mix of many reasons, starting with the public location. So sad to comment that I have no words to describe the way I feel.

    ---------

There were other rallys in Spain this weekend. The most important was in Cervera, as it was the fifth round of the Gravel Champ. The finaly victory was for the former spanish champion, Amador Vidal, with his VW Proto. Second was Jorge del Cid (Evo X) and third was Alex Villanueva (Evo X) who has built up his speed last years in France Gravel Champ.

On the first stages Xevi Pons was leading the rally with his Ford Fiesta R5 from Bernini Rally. Pons was returning to the competition after a long period of resting due to back injuries. At we could see in Cervera he continues to have speed and gravel skills. A technical problem ruined his rally.

The next leader was Nani Roma who had to retire after engine problems in his Mini Cooper Proto. Then, Vidal took the lead and won the rally.

I'm open to any questions about the rally as I was there.

Any? OK a general question, maybe its cultural> I get a feeling most Spanish rally is asfalto and that gravel or tierra is maybe second place status so
    is this true?
    And if true, why?

I have the feeling also that maybe there simply isn't enough good gravel roads in Spain to cover all regions...but I haven't been to the inside of Spain...

Really too bad about the accident. Big news also here in the Netherlands, all over the news, this morning on the radio also about the 7th victim.
Anyway, when you watch the Bunnings videos of the rallies there, I have to admit it always looks like all the drivers have a big heart, but unfortunately the safety isn't great at all right?

Nice surpise: Hans Weijs jr. will drive his own, recently bought Fiesta R5 at the Hellendoorn Rally in the Netherlands.

Good to see him competing again, after he quit his South African campaign.

This weekend the 4.rally for Slovenian championship (and also valid for Mitropa), Rally Nova Gorica.
Special guest on the entry list, Umberto Scandola. I guess this is a ''penalty'' participation for Umberto, as he didn't succeed to drive more than three stages on previous two events in Italy. But for us is a great honour to have such exceptional driver with the best R5 car in the world.

Not worthy of mentioning, that he is favourite Nb.1 .......

Rally Nova Gorica, as expected an easy win for Italian rally star Umberto Scandola. I was surprised that Gassner senior was faster than his son. Fastest slovenian driver Rok Turk with P208R2 (this is reality in our championship), and one huge accident from driver of MG (fortunately no one was hurt) due to ''lost brakes'' (he tryed to save situation with hand brake):
