He deserves a WRC, so it's good to see him with S11. It's better than the DS3 or an old Lancer. And it's a sign of money too !

As the final countdown to the Safety Direct Galway International Rally rapidly approaches, Donnelly Motorsport are delighted to announce the renewal of their sponsorship agreement with Colm Quinn and their entry into the first round of the Irish Tarmac Championship with the McGeehan Motorsport John Cooper Works MINI WRC.

Speaking this morning, Eugene said,
“I am delighted to be involved with Colm Quinn and McGeehan Motorsport giving me the opportunity to drive the WRC MINII again. Colm Quinn and his team in MINI Athlone have pulled out all the stops to make this happen and I must say I am so excited about driving the new WRC RHD MINI. The experience from last year should help in getting a good result and with Mark Kane sitting alongside me for the event I am really looking forward to the slippery roads of Galway. I would like to extend my thanks to Lakeland Tyres, Lisnaskea for their support also and look forward to a safe and enjoyable rally.”

After the success of the partnership in 2012, both Eugene and Colm Quinn are anxious to revive the momentum of what was dubbed as MINI’s return to Rallying with Colm saying “The MINI WRC’s performance thrilled spectators last year providing a closely fought race, after the days rallying the MINI WRC finished a close 2nd, beaten only by 1.2 seconds having had to deal with 2 punctures during the day. We are delighted to have Eugene back on board along with McGeehan Motorsport and look forward to a thrilling display on Sunday”.

McGeehan Motorsport expect that this year’s entry, the latest WRC.01B Right Hand Drive version of the MINI WRC, to be even more competitive than the 2012 entry, with it being the only right hand drive car built by any current WRC Manufacturer. McGeehan Motorsport has been responsible for the final development on behalf of Prodrive who are the FIA Manufacturer.

Everyone involved with Donnelly Motorsport along with Colm Quinn would like to thank the general media for their support and coverage of the Rally and to all the Marshalls, Time-keepers, Officials, Competitors, Spectators and everyone involved with the Rally, we wish a safe and enjoyable weekends rallying to all, both on the stages and off.

So far Tidemand is in a class of his own. Over 2 minutes ahead of the 2nd placed driver Jaari Saarinen.

Ramona is still a bit off-pace but have not done any testing due to the warm weather during the past week.
She had an off at SS2 and spent something like half an hour in a snow bank/ditch before she could get going again.

Also again there have been timing problems. The times noted by the marshals does not match the times at the official results page.

Pontus Tidemans wins with a margin of 3.12 minutes. Jaari Saarinen finished second and Robin Friberg was third
overall 12 seconds behind Saarinen. Friberg however was the winner of his class.
