Also note the "standalone" US series and the Japanese SuperGT and DTM technical specs being the same...could be very interesting combined series/overlap of cars.

Good news for the DTM, it has been just Audi and Mercedes for way too long. I wonder where this will leave BMWs WTCC program, surely there is no need for two separate touring car programs?

excellent news- was a huge fan of the old DTM but lost interest in recent years. With a third manufacturer (and possibly Opel joining in) it might be worth watching again

    that'll probably happen.

with seperate series possible in the USA and maybe even Asia, plus SuperGT using DTM regs....well, I see international domination on the touring car front from DTM, the brand of DTM will end up far superior than that of the WTCC if this all goes through.

lets hope the new regs get rid of all those blasted flappy parts then.
Congratulations Sebastian Vettel. Champion of the season of seasons.

I'd have thought they'd pull the plug on the WTCC - it's a dead-duck series, with stupid rules and cars which aren't the best Touring cars around.
Going to the DTM makes perfect sense, up against their true competitors.

Is there a better sound than that of Porsche engined Flat-6 ???

Can't see it happening (getting rid of flappy bits). SuperGTs are also glorified prototypes.
